If you want to protest against the Indian Government for the rampant corruption being spread in the country and to support Team Anna make sure you are present at any where between  Lumbini park - NeckLace Road Hyderabad at 5:30pm on 20th August 2011.

Instructions:
1. It is a peaceful protest march. Kindly maintain decorum.
2. Please bring candles, placards, banners. Make sure, the content is proper.
3. Avoid and control commotion.
4. Refrain from shouting political slogans.
5. Wear white to symbolize that our march is peaceful.
6. Wear black arm-bands to mourn the demolition of democracy.

Anna Hazarey Detained for a minimum duration of 24 hours

Just 3 hours before the indefinite fast of Anna could begin, Government of India showed its colors.
Anna Hazarey and all the other members of civil society have been arrested and put in jail under section 65.

Anna Hazarey predicted this would be the route government would after he was not granted permission for the ground to carry out his  indefinite fast, left a message for the people of India.
Thousands of People across the country are vowing their support to Anna Hazarey by following the path of non violence. However, Annaji would also be starting his fast from Jail.
Under section 65 : The members would be detained for 24 hours. Clearly one can understand the tactics of Indian government.

Happy Independence Day

I am 21 years old and I am seeing country celebrate its 64th Independence day. I could only say that I have been fortunate enough to be born in a country free from slavery of the British or any western powers.
To understand a struggle of freedom in 21 years would have easy for some people but  its not at least for me. After being born in the information age people spend more time on facebook/orkut/twitter and mobiles than spending their time with their parents.

I could say that last one year has been very disgusting for Indians, not only because they elected congress for second time but also they selected high prices.There hasn't been a month passed in peace. Either there are blasts or there is another corruption scandal  being revealed.Anna Hazarey is the name on every body's lips.He became a symbol and a source of light for the entire country.

Although country is celebrating its Independence day today. Anna will be starting his fast tomorrow.
Only achievements worthwhile  to be mentioned this year would be India winning world cup and Anna Hazarey's fast forcing government to create a lokpal.
I hope I would be able to play a better part in a country fighting against corruption apart from just paying my taxes and being content.

Anna Hazare to go on fast from August 16

It all began at jantar mantar in the month of April when  Anna Hazare, an old man who believes in Gandhiji's values decided to go on fast for the betterment of the people and of the country.It began in jantar mantar and today what we see is a result of his courage. Many social activists are coming up and the people of India have started to believe that we could be freed from corruption.
When Annaji began his fast every person in the  country irrespective of caste, creed, religion came out to support him. Although lakhs of people flew to jantar mantar to show their support to annaji, many other showed their support through digital media, forwarding texts.
What happened after that is history, government came down and agreed to form a committee and it was decided that lokpal bill first draft would be out on or befor 30 June, 2011.

The day the fast ended the country rejoiced with victory. Now almost after 2 months we see that the government which agreed to support the lokpall bill is going to submit its own version of draft  and Annaji with other members of the committee another draft and everyone knows which version of the draft might get passed.

The point of difference came because of many reasons one of the main reason was the inclusion of prime minister and judges under the bill. As Mr. Narayan Murthy rightly said what is the problem when prime minister comes under the scrutiny ?
Congress government should understand that bringing prime minister and judges under the lokpall bill would only strengthen the democracy and not weaken it. But all this allegations and statements made against the members of committee only shows what are the intentions of the government. As a common man I only understood that the government never wanted lokpal bill to come into practise.
So first they accepted the proposal and before it would be implemented it would break the committee formed by annaji and other members.All this allegations only show  the cheap tactis of the government.

To protest against this anna ji is again going on fast from August 16. I hope country will shower more support than it ever did before.

He is demanding enactment of a strong anti-corruption law - Jan Lokpal Bill - to ensure swiftness and certainty of punishment to the corrupt.
Will his fast have any impact on the deaf  Government of India?

Yes, it certainly would. Because, last time when Anna sat on fast �

� 6 corrupt ministers in Maharashtra had to resign
� 400 corrupt officers were dismissed from job
� 2002 - Maharashtra RTI Act was passed
� 2006 - Central Government withdrew its proposal to amend Central RTI Act 


JAN LOKPAL BILL will act as deterrent and instill fear in the minds of corrupt people. 
 
Salient features of Jan Lokpal Bill
 
Drafted by Justice Santosh Hegde, Prashant Bhushan and Arvind Kejriwal, this Bill has been refined on the basis of feedback received from public on website and after series of public consultations. It has also been vetted by and is supported by Shanti Bhushan, J M Lyngdoh, Kiran Bedi, Anna Hazare etc. It was sent to the PM and all CMs on 1st December.  

1. An institution called LOKPAL at the centre and LOKAYUKTA in each state will be set up

2. Like Supreme Court and Election Commission, they will be completely independent of the governments. No minister or bureaucrat will be able to influence their investigations.

3. Cases against corrupt people will not linger on for years anymore: Investigations in any case will have to be completed in one year. Trial should be completed in next one year so that the corrupt politician, officer or judge is sent to jail within two years.
 
4. The loss that a corrupt person caused to the government will be recovered at the time of conviction.
 
5. How will it help a common citizen: If any work of any citizen is not done in prescribed time in any government office, Lokpal will impose financial penalty on guilty officers, which will be given as compensation to the complainant.
 
6. So, you could approach Lokpal if your ration card or passport or voter card is not being made or if police is not registering your case or any other work is not being done in prescribed time. Lokpal will have to get it done in a month's time. You could also report any case of corruption to Lokpal like ration being siphoned off, poor quality roads been constructed or panchayat funds being siphoned off. Lokpal will have to complete its investigations in a year, trial will be over in next one year and the guilty will go to jail within two years.

7. But won't the government appoint corrupt and weak people as Lokpal members? That won't be possible because its members will be selected by judges, citizens and constitutional authorities and not by politicians, through a completely transparent and participatory process.

8. What if some officer in Lokpal becomes corrupt? The entire functioning of Lokpal/ Lokayukta will be completely transparent. Any complaint against any officer of Lokpal shall be investigated and the officer dismissed within two months.

9. What will happen to existing anti-corruption agencies? CVC, departmental vigilance and anti-corruption branch of CBI will be merged into Lokpal. Lokpal will have complete powers and machinery to independently investigate and prosecute any officer, judge or politician.

He is advocating for a Bil, The Jan Lokpal Bill (The Citizen Ombudsman Bill), that will form an autonomous authority who will make politicians (ministers), beurocrats (IAS/IPS) accountable for their deeds.

8. It's an entirely new thing right..?
In 1972, the bill was proposed by then Law minister Mr. Shanti Bhushan. Since then it has been neglected by the politicians and some are trying to change the bill to suit thier theft (corruption).

7. Oh.. He is going on a hunger strike for that whole thing of passing a Bill ! How can that be possible in such a short span of time?
The first thing he is asking for is: the government should come forward and announce that the bill is going to be passed.
Next, they make a joint committee to DRAFT the JAN LOKPAL BILL. 50% goverment participation and 50% public participation. Because you cant trust the government entirely for making such a bill which does not suit them.

8. Fine, What will happen when this bill is passed?
A LokPal will be appointed at the centre. He will have an autonomous charge, say like the Election Commission of India. In each and every state, Lokayukta will be appointed. The job is to bring all alleged party to trial in case of corruptions within 1 year. Within 2 years, the guilty will be punished. Not like, Bofors scam or Bhopal Gas Tragedy case, that has been going for last 25 years without any result.
