How To Apply For Extra New Light Meter in Hyderabad

Greetings of the day!

Today we are going to write about how should one go about applying for a new electricity meter. This post of course is applicable only for Hyderabad.

One of the many reasons as to why everybody wants a new meter these days is because of the slabbed costing scheme government has recently introduced. So let us say you are staying in a building which has 3 different residents. The building has only one light meter. So what would be the problem now ?
Since there is only one meter and 3 different families are going to share it the cost of bill would be much when compared to each family having their own electricity meters. The obvious reason is that together they would be reaching higher cost per unit slab than they would reach individually.

So below is the procedure to get your own electricity meter: (Thanks to Abhishek for compiling this)

  1. Take application form from light office(Each house can apply for max resident 4 meters).
  2. Fill the form with required option (1 KW - 1 phase or 3 KW - 3 phase meter) on the house owners name(meter will be issued only on house owner name)
  3. Attach the following proofs xerox attested by Gazette officer.
    • House/Property owner document.
    • Id proof - Ration card would be best
    • Two photos.
    • Latest existing light meter bill with payment receipt.
  4. Meter fee(currently 1125/- for 1 KW meter) should be paid via dd issued from nationalize bank like SBI (State Bank Of India) or SBH (State Bank Of Hyderabad) (amount can be known from light office while taking form).
  5. Affidavit of No objection(from other owners) if the house is on more than one owner(more than one owners name in property document).
  6. Applicant has to come personally while submitting the document.

How to transfer HP Gas connection Ownership from Your Deceased Parents or Grand Parents to your name

Hi All,

Greetings of the day to everybody!!

Today I transferred the Gas Connection from my Grandfather to my name. In the process of doing so I had to make lot of rounds from my home to Gas company to courts to Xerox shops.

If you want to avoid wasting lot of time just like I did you are reading a right blog post :)

Below is the list of things compiled from HP's Official Website  and from my personal experience. Before going to your gas company make sure you have all of them.

1. Death Certificate of the Parent or Grand Parent
2. Proof that you are the legal hair of the guardian. For this you can either use your Ration card, ofcourse it should have your name on it, or you can use some proof which can show you are releated to the deceased parent.
3. Original Papers of your Gas Connection
4. A No objection letter from your father stating that he does not have objection if gas connection is transferred from your Grand Father to your name. This is required only when you are transferring ownership from your Grand father's name to yours
5. An Affidavit on 20 Rs stamp paper, kind of no objection. You can download this from the link I have provided above.
6. Some Cash, Mine got completed for 100 bucks. But might vary depending upon the amount of security deposit they already have.
7. Your Identity proof and Address proof.
8. Aadhar Card
9. Last but not the least, please carry one set of Xerox copy of all the above documents.

Please let me know if there is something I have missed. I needed only this documents for getting my transfer done. If there is anything new added I will update the list.

Thanks :)
